4th Annual Tractor Pull Attracts Nearly 1,000 People

The Humboldt Area Jaycees Tractor Pull featured the Northwest Missouri Tractor Pullers Association. Pictured above is the tractor known as “Beer Run”. When the engine on this baby was revved up, the smoke would really fly as shown in the picture which excited all the spectators.

The Humboldt Area Jaycees presented their 4th Annual Tractor and Truck Pull on Friday night, June 27, 2003, on the land east of Humboldt Specialty.

The fun started at 6:30 p.m. with a show by the Northwest Missouri Tractor Pullers Association. Tractors and pickups they featured were: 5200 Non Turbo, 5500 Hot Rod, 8200 Non Turbo, 8200 Farm Turbo, 7700 Super Farm, 5800 Pro Stock Pickup, 8000 Hot Stock, 6200 Non Turbo, 6000 Hot Rod, 9200 Non Turbo, 9200 Farm Turbo, 8700 Super Farm, 6200 Pro Stock Pickup, and 9000 Hot Stock. Unfortunately, the rain forced the Pull to end early, at around midnight, so the Farm Tractor classes and over the road semis couldn’t compete. Maybe next year, guys.

The crowd was estimated at approximately 1,000 people, including the drivers, Jaycees, and fans.

The Jaycees put a lot of hard work into putting on this event each year, but they can’t do it without generous donations from local businesses. There were 53 businesses that helped sponsor the event this year. Humboldt sponsors were: Cardinal Mini Services, Colonial Acres, Humboldt Implement, Humboldt Specialty Mfg Co., Lewis Implement, Pawnee Transfer, R&D Grocery, State Bank of Table Rock, Wilhelm Grain, ADM Alliance Nutrition, American National Bank, Blecha 66, Creative Thoughts, Fankhauser, Nelson & Werts PC, Humboldt Lumber, Humboldt Standard, Leech Insurance Agency, and Marburger’s Shoe Store. Donations were also received from neighboring towns, including Pawnee City, Dawson, Stella, Auburn, Verdon, Bern, Table Rock, Falls City, and Elk Creek.

The Jaycees also had help from the Auburn Jaycees and Waverly Jaycees. State board members attending the event were: State President Deb Ventris and husband Reuben, State Management VP Brett Drake and wife Kendra, State Community VP Gene Stoddard, State Membership VP Teresa Denson and husband Charlie (State First Timers & Degrees Program Manager), and Region Director Brian Nichols. Other Jaycee groups helping out shows the kind of comradeship that the Jaycee organizations have for each other.

The Jaycees 4th Annual Tractor Pull provided a fun night of entertainment for the town of Humboldt for a mere six bucks and, once again, put the town of Humboldt on the map.
